Looking forward to tomorrow’s Thanksgiving celebration, we all in our own ways have much for which to be thankful. Sure, there are problems, imperfections and defects- to stretch it out, vicissitudes. But there’s almost always a bright side. This is when fortitude and family step up.
Here on the island the weather is receding, resources are up to snuff, the mail comes occasionally, people are happy. It is a mite difficult getting here- the anticipated repair of NC 12 from the North has been set back by high water and surf. If you are tempted to take advantage of the “4 x 4 only” access beyond Rodanthe be warned- it’s iffy and quite wet. For the determined there is available a trailering service who will bring your vehicle (and you) across when possible.
The Swan Quarter and Cedar Island ferries are running- reservations are required and in demand. Please call us for guidance thru the process if you like. Look thru www.islandfreepress.org and www.ocracokecurrent.com for details and situation reports, plus lots of photos.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
