Easter Sunday, an ecclestiastical centerpoint and this year on 31 March, is more than merely the beginning of Summer for prospective Ocracoke vacationers. A local ttradition is our non-denominational Sunrise Service on the beach.
Watch the sun emerge, ever so rapidly, above the ocean’s horizon, and ponder the immensity of it all. We drove around on the beach yesterday, and for as far as we could see- east, west and across the ocean limited only by the earth’s curvature- we saw noone.
Yet we know that from ultramicro to ultramacro, we are not alone.
